Portrait

Spring break is just ended :( I want another week of break. I'm not so ready for school yet.

This break has been fun because I started painting again after so so so so long. The excitement is still there, I missed this feeling :]. I've been drawing and painting stuff digitally by Photoshop with a tablet, but after all real painting is always the best. It's more challenging and is thus more fun. It's harder to pick a color or tone you really want in real life. It's harder to hide and fix the mistake when you paint in real life. I wish there were delete and re-do button.

Anyways, I drew a portrait, a face of a girl with super curly hair. Im not sure how to explain her expression, soothing? relaxing? indifferent? or empty? The main focus is the hair :] I wanted to try to draw that kind of hairstyle for awhile. The curly hairstyle always remind me of something wild and full of chaos, and a bit of sexiness. I have so much fun doing the shading. I thought it would be hard but once it started to shape I get more excited.
I like the portrait in a white background. I should have just left it white.

I would like to do it again. I wanted her skin to be lighter, but dark skin is surprisingly cool with this kind of hair. I will do better at shading next time :)

Title for this? I don't know. I would say A portrait of Peace within Chaos. Why? Because her relaxing expression is contrast with her wild, chaotic hair. Is that too cheesy? lol.

  1. I found your blog! awesome :D The hair and shading is very nice. I also like the hair accessory. The background color is soothing but white background looks nice also. I will keep up to see what kind of art you do next :D
